One of America's favourite holidays has come under threat, as severe weather and disease have blighted the pumpkin harvest in swathes over the country.

But it seems 22-year-old Vanessa Hudgens is planning to beat the Great Pumpkin Shortage and ensure she at least enjoys a traditional Halloween.

The High School Musical star was spotted browsing a local patch with her younger sister Stella.

Looking casual in jeans and a white vest, Vanessa hit Ralph's food shop and a furniture store in Studio City Los Angeles before getting her hands dirty among the squashes.

The star looked at a variety of sizes, appearing interested in some unusual white gourds.

Vanessa is wise to snap up her Halloween accessory early, as the major celebration looks to be severely hit by the pumpkin shortage.

According to farmers in the Northeast, wholesale prices of pumpkins have doubled in some areas, with 'pumpkin profiteering' by unscrupulous traders being reported.

The dearth has occurred as a result of the heavy rains during the spring and summer, which aggravated a subsequent outbreak of fungus.

Hurricane Irene was also a crucial factor, with one New York farmer seeing '15,000 to 20,000 pumpkins, washed into Lake Champlain.'

'Eaten and spat out!' Dannii Minogue reveals her true thoughts on the X Factor as she promotes her new fashion book

She may have moved on from her role as panel judge, but it seems that Dannii Minogue still has the X Factor on her mind.

The Aussie star has claimed that there is never a happy ending for the show's judges and that her and Cheryl Cole are proof of that.

The 39-year-old singer songwriter, who gave birth to her son, Ethan, in July 2010, never wanted to leave the UK show.

The star revealed her feelings during an interview on Heart FM.

‘It does eat all of us up and spit us out at the end,' she said.

Dannii, sister of pop star Kylie Minogue, went on to explain why she never returned for this year's talent show.

'The dates of the filming got put back twice and I'd already started Australia's Got Talent by the time they said, "Ok, here it is - let's do the show",' she said.

'It would've meant me flying back and forth from Australia once a week for ten weeks with a one-year-old child.

The statement will be a shock to members of the new panel - Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos - who all seem to have settled into their new roles very well.

She may have been the victim of Twitter abuse last week, but Cher Lloyd is determined not to let them ruin her success.

The 18-year-old singer arrived at Key 103 radio station in Manchester today to continue the promotion of her upcoming debut album.

With her boyfriend, Craig Monk, by her side the former X Factor contestant looked happy as she arrived for her appearance on the airwaves.


Brave face: Cher wore an odd outfit that consisted of off white skinny jeans and a bright blue baseball jacket and she completed the look with a smile

The pair have been dating since June, after meeting when Monk put in the teen singer's hair extensions at the Four Salon in Mayfair where he works.

And lately it seems that Lloyd's doting boyfriend seems to accompany her wherever she goes.

The singer also made an appearance on Radio One last week and arrived with supportive Monk in tow.

The Only Way is Hell: Mark Wright struggles to stay focused as he attends a yoga class full of pretty young Lycra-clad women

After vowing that he wasn't going to even look at another woman after breaking up with Lauren Goodger, a yoga class full of scantily-clad women wasn't exactly going to help his willpower.

But despite his eye wandering to all sorts of places - and body parts - during his zen workout, Mark Wright stuck to his pledge and left alone at the end of the class.

However, he soon bemoaned to his best mate how hard it had been to keep his mind on his yoga moves - and his celibacy vow.

He just can't cope! A sexy woman in tight and revealing workout clothes catches Mark's eye...

He met James 'Arg' Argent for a quick bite to eat, who couldn't help but tease Mark about doing the class.

But when he questioned his no-women vow, Mark said it had been a struggle and told him: 'I walked in, there were fourteen birds, an eight of ten minimum and all I can think about is boobs, arse and more arse. I nearly broke the celibacy right there and then!'

The boys ended up making £40 and celebrated with a pizza back at their house while they discussed Harry's sexuality and Ronnie said he'd take Harry to his first gay nightclub when he's 18.

As an uncomfortable Mario looked on, Nicole said to Lucy: 'Thanks for getting Mark away from my sister, she's finally seen the light and that's all down to you.'

Kirk unlocked Jessica Wright's lock but as Lauren walked past they said it was awkward and would act like it didn't work.

Maria and Mick ended up at the bar and found that their lock and key worked together and joked that this was when Mick should run and get his pre-nup, while Joey tried a number of unsuccessful chat up lines on a couple of women, including 'what's your favourite fruit?', and 'what's your favourite animal?'

It seemed that most of the TOWIE gang were there including Billie and Sam Faiers, Chloe Sim, Frankie Essex and Lauren Goodger.

Mark Wright had given it a miss, and, as Mail Online reported earlier this week, was seen at home alone with a pizza and DVD for company.

But Mark ends up at Alec's where he crashes Arg and Lydia's romantic dinner but his best friend asks him to pull up a chair and Mark starts moaning about being lonely.

But as Arg sticks up for him, Lydia calmly puts him in his place and tells Mark: 'You've got to understand that Lauren's put up with a lot of crap over the past year and is entitled to move on.'

After an arduous workout in Toluca Lake, California, the 22-year-old actress came a cropper after the chain came off her bike.

Luckily, a member of the assembled paparazzi was only too happy to assist the damsel in distress and set about fixing it.

Vanessa was seen picking up her belongings after almost taking a tumble off her wheels.

Demi Moore mused about how to deal with 'anger' the night before spending her wedding anniversary alone last weekend, it has emerged.

The 48-year-old actress is facing claims she has 'separated' from her husband of six years amid fresh rumours of infidelity.

Ashton Kutcher, 33, who is 15 years her junior, allegedly had a liaison with another woman after an alcohol-fuelled on Friday , according to U.S. showbusiness website Radar Online.

It said it was given the information by ‘multiple friends of the 23-year-old woman’, named by another website as Sara Leal.

She has reportedly hired a top Hollywood lawyer and gone into hiding.

The latest alleged encounter happened on the 12th floor of the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, California, in the early hours of Saturday – the Hollywood couple’s sixth wedding anniversary.

Kutcher and the woman had apparently been partying at a club in the city. One fellow clubgoer said: ‘Ashton didn’t look like someone who was celebrating a wedding anniversary.’

U.S. website thedirty.com named the woman as Miss Leal and claimed she wanted £160,000 for her version of events.

It added that ‘Kutcher told Sara Leal that him [sic] and Demi Moore are separated and the public doesn’t know yet.’

Kutcher’s bodyguard was also said to have taken Miss Leal’s mobile phone before she entered the hotel room.

Three days later, the star, who has lost weight in recent weeks, posted a picture of herself looking forlorn, with the caption: 'I see through you.'

In other messages this month, she said she was 'trying to find the light I lost.'
