But the singer made no effort to hide her curves yesterday as she headed to Cheateau Marmont with boyfriend Eric Johnson.

Jessica wore the dress to a Dior beauty luncheon before heading to Chateau Marmont, where she relaxed on the hotel's patio with boyfriend Eric Johnson and pals until 8pm.

Jessica has long had issues with her weight, facing harsh comments when she wore a pair of extremely unflattering high-waisted jeans on stage early last year.

But it appears that the Dukes of Hazzard star has truly put that behind her and is embracing her new shape.

She was no doubt deeply affected by her TV show The Price of Beauty.

In the show, Jessica travelled around the world with best friends Cacee Cobb and Ken Paves, observing how standards of beauty change from place to place.

She tells the September issue of Lucky Magazine, 'We all obsess over looking like the perfect Barbie type, and that's not always what's beautiful. It's about making peace with yourself.'

Michael Douglas cut a frail figure as he was pictured for the first time since his cancer diagnosis was revealed earlier this month.

The Oscar-winning actor, who is battling in throat cancer, was spotted leaving his New York apartment, looking noticeably thinner in the face.

It is believed the Wall Street star has now started his intensive eight weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatment in a bid to treat the disease.

Earlier reports said the 65-year-old father of three, who is married to Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, 40, is expected to make a full recovery.

But despite the optimistic prognosis, the veteran actor, who is a heavy smoker, still has an almighty battle on his hands.

His Fatal Attraction co-star, Glenn Close, said he will need to show courage in the coming months in an interview this week.

When asked by OK magazine if she had a message for him, she said: 'You know, just courage.'

The U.S. actress added that her mother had recently undergone cancer surgery and relied on a positive outlook on life to make it through.

'You know my mother just had a big operation for cancer and she is 86 and you just have to soldier through it and keep a positive attitude,' she added.

On top of his cancer treatment, Douglas is also facing a legal battle with his ex-wife Diandra Luker, who is suing him for half of his earnings from Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

Diandra, who divorced her husband in 2000, claims she is entitled to 50 per cent as her ex is reprising his role as crooked financier Gordon Gekko.

Under the terms of their split 10 years ago Diandra receives a 50 per cent share of the proceeds from films, television and stage work he did during their marriage.

She claims the settlement relates to any of those projects and Douglas has to pay up for the sequel to 1987 hit Wall St.

Douglas is reported to have received over £10m for the role in the Oliver Stone film which opens next month and stars British actress Carey Mulligan.

In light of his cancer diagnosis, Luker offered to postpone their Manhattan court fight, but Michael is said to have turned down the offer.

'Michael declined - he wants to get this over with as soon as possible,' an insider told the New York Post recently.

The former couple have a son Cameron, 31, who was sentenced to five years in jail for drug trafficking in April.

Douglas also has two children with his current wife Zeta-Jones, son Dylan, 10, and daughter Carys, seven.

The 12-year-old is now is almost shoulder-to-shoulder with her famous father, who is among the tallest of the U.S. Presidents.

A growth spurt over the past year has seen her shoot up to almost the same height as her mother Michelle, who is 5ft 11in.

Her stature was evident as she stood next to her father at the end of the family's Martha's Vineyard holiday, with her mother and sister Sasha, nine.

She is said to be 5ft 9in - almost seven inches taller than an average girl.

White House officials will not discuss Malia's height, but she is thought to have grown more than six inches in the last two years.

Orlando sped off on his Ducatti motorcycle while expectant mum, Miranda took the safer route of driving home in the couple's car.

Bloom and Kerr sparked pregnancy rumours when they secretly married last month in a romantic, intimate ceremony in Aguilla.

The 27-year-old Australian model confirmed her pregnancy in an interview with Spanish Vogue, going on to reveal that she is four months long.

Bloom, 33, revealed his happiness at the news during a Munich photocall for his latest film.

'I'm really excited about it, it's great,' said the beaming actor as he attended the press event to mark the start of filming The Three Musketeers.

But there's a chance Bloom will be away for much of his wife's pregnancy - Musketeers will film largely in Germany and France.

'I'll go home as often as possible. She'll come out here too,' he said.

'I've always wanted kids, so someday, eventually, yes, it will happen,' she has said.

But the couple has decided to keep the sex of their baby a surprise so will have to wait until November to find out.

Denise Van Outen is returning to the West End, just five months after giving birth to her first child.

The actress, who gave birth to baby Betsy in May, will play Elle Wood's beautician confidante Paulette in the London production of Legally Blonde from October.

Her supporting role in the production at the Savoy Theatre comes after several high-profile West End roles, including Chicago, Rent Remixed and Tell Me On A Sunday.

Writing on her Twitter page, the 36-year-old enthused: 'I'm really excited about joining the cast of Legally Blonde in the West End from October.'

She also took the opportunity to defend returning to work after she was recently criticised by pregnant actress Natalie Cassidy.

Cassidy said earlier ths week: 'Denise van Outen went back to work after two weeks because she said she needed to feel normal again. I just think, ‘What have you had a child for? Having a child should be your job."'

In response, Van Outen wrote today: 'I will spend the daytimes with Hubby and baby, and work in the evenings when Betsy is sleeping. Perfect...

'Thought I'd get in there first before the likes of Natalie Cassidy criticise me for being a working mum.'

Van Outen has proved a popular draw in the West End since drawing rave reviews for her performance at Roxie Hart in both the London and Broadway productions of Chicago in the early Noughties.

In 2003, she starred in a revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's one-woman show Tell Me On A Sunday and played Maurren in the 2007 run of Rent Remixed.

Like The Queen with her corgis, Ms Fonda's constant canine companion Tulear was of course at her side during her treatment.

A five year old Coton de Tulear called Tulea, currently single Jane has said that the dog is her 'soul mate.'

She's been on our screens for half a century - but Jane Fonda can still teach upcoming starlets a thing or two about deportment in public.

The 72-year-old exercise video legend - who's catchphrase used to be 'Feel the burn!' - had an air of regal hauteur as she allowed a beauty therapist to buff her nails back into shape yesterday.

It's still filming and is due to open in cinemas next year.

But could Gwen Stefani possibly soon be hearing the patter of tiny feet for the third time?

On a trip to West Hollywood yesterday, the No Doubt star sported a slightly rounded stomach under her black and white striped maxi dress.

And the 40-year-old star kept her straw hat firmly over her tummy as she took sons Kingston, four, and two-year-old Zuma to visit her parents.

She looked her usual stylish self with a studded belt over her dress, oversized sunglasses and her trademark red lipstick.

A nanny helped carry Stefani's young son Zuma into the house while Kingston looked equally trendy in a yellow T-short and jeans.

But there was no sign of her rock star husband Gavin Rossdale.

In the past, Stefani has not ruled out the possibility of adding to her family, but has expressed fears that, at 40, she may be running out of time.

'Having children is the hardest thing I’ve ever done,' she said in an interview with In Style magazine this year.

'No one could have prepared me for how awesome it is and how hard. And having two boys – there’s a lot of energy.

'I mean, it does seem weird that I don’t have a girl, but I feel like I’m running out of time,' she added. 'I also don’t want to spread myself so thin that I can’t even be good for them.

Miracle mum brings premature baby son back to life with two hours of loving cuddles after doctors pronounce him dead

It was a final chance to say goodbye for grieving mother Kate Ogg after doctors gave up hope of saving her premature baby.

She tearfully told her lifeless son - born at 27 weeks weighing 2lb - how much she loved him and cuddled him tightly, not wanting to let him go.

Although little Jamie's twin sister Emily had been delivered successfully, doctors had given Mrs Ogg the news all mothers dread - that after 20 minutes of battling to get her son to breathe, they had declared him dead.

Having given up on a miracle, Mrs Ogg unwrapped the baby from his blanket and held him against her skin. And then an extraordinary thing happened.

After two hours of being hugged, touched and spoken to by his mother, the little boy began showing signs of life.

At first, it was just a gasp for air that was dismissed by doctors as a reflex action.

But then the startled mother fed him a little breast milk on her finger and he started breathing normally.

'I thought, "Oh my God, what's going on",' said Mrs Ogg.

'A short time later he opened his eyes. It was a miracle. Then he held out his hand and grabbed my finger.

'He opened his eyes and moved his head from side to side. The doctor kept shaking his head saying, "I don't believe it, I don't believe it".'

The Australian mother spoke publicly for the first time yesterday to highlight the importance of skin-on-skin care for sick babies, which is being used at an increasing number of British hospitals.

In most cases, babies are rushed off to intensive care if there is a serious problem during the birth.

But the 'kangaroo care' technique, named after the way kangaroos hold their young in a pouch next to their bodies, allows the mother to act as a human incubator to keep babies warm, stimulated and fed.

Pre-term and low birth-weight babies treated with the skin-to-skin method have also been shown to have lower infection rates, less severe illness, improved sleep patterns and are at reduced risk of hypothermia.

Mrs Ogg and her husband David told how doctors gave up on saving their son after a three-hour labour in a Sydney hospital in March.

'The doctor asked me had we chosen a name for our son,' said Mrs Ogg. 'I said, "Jamie", and he turned around with my son already wrapped up and said, "We've lost Jamie, he didn't make it, sorry".


'It was the worse feeling I've ever felt. I unwrapped Jamie from his blanket. He was very limp.

'I took my gown off and arranged him on my chest with his head over my arm and just held him. He wasn't moving at all and we just started talking to him.

'We told him what his name was and that he had a sister. We told him the things we wanted to do with him throughout his life.

'Jamie occasionally gasped for air, which doctors said was a reflex action. But then I felt him move as if he were startled, then he started gasping more and more regularly.

'I gave Jamie some breast milk on my finger, he took it and started regular breathing.'

Mrs Ogg held her son, now five months old and fully recovered, as she spoke on the Australian TV show Today Tonight.

Her husband added: 'Luckily I've got a very strong, very smart wife.

She told People.com: 'There's no truth to any starvation, eating disorders, rumours. I think the press has been printing a lot of pictures of me from unflattering angles.

'My friends see the pictures and they're like "Oh my god are you okay?" And then they see me, and they're like "Oh … "

'It's really not that interesting or true.'

This morning she tweeted: 'Great workout this morning! What about u guys? I feel so lazy if I don't get a workout in.'
